CFS Classes

Computers for Seniors had had much success in packaging classes called Tech Thursdays which started in 2006 and continue today. These classes were designed to help sharpen the skills of computers users in specific areas.

Tech Thursdays offerings are held at the Hyannis Campus of Cape Cod Community College at 540 Main Street Hyannis, across from the Burger King on North Street.

The Hyannis classroom has undergone major renovations and is available for CFS to conduct classes now. .

Looking ahead, we have three Tech Thursday classes scheduled for the October-November. timeframe.

  • October 16 Digital Cameras to Begin With
  • October 23 iPods & iTunes Basics
  • October 30 Powerpoint 2007
  • November 6 Make Video DVDs with Win Movie Maker

Get all the details for the classes here.

CFS will continue to offer classes in conjunction with the Academy for Life Long Learning. The fall schedule has begun for all of the A.L.L. courses. If you are interested in taking an A.L.L.course contact them and get a catalog.

Digital Photography Group Activities

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 1:30 PM. The class will now be held in the newly renovated CCCC Hyannis campus. (see CFS Blogs for the latest update) The theme for October is "open". You are invited to enter up to four photos. If interested, please go the "Digital Photo SIG" link on our web site for instructions.

As you may know the 4C's Hyannis campus building is undergoing major renovations and is nearing completion. You may view an update and photos of the renovation at the "CFS Blogs" on the homepage or the link below. If you have not seen the transformation, you will be amazed at the new look!! Please see our CFS Blog for the images..

Future themes though January 2009 are posted in the "CFS Blogs" section of our web site. You can find this on the left side of the CFS home page.

We welcome new members and all who are interested in digital photography to join us. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Carl Nelson at cfsphoto@cfscapecod.com.

Computers for Seniors Receives Grant

Computers for Seniors is grateful for a recent $500 grant from ExxonMobil. This is not the first time that CFS has received this grant. The grant helps to defray the costs of providing classroom material for our classes.

Volunteer Aides Needed for Class Helpers

At one time we had a pool of people who would assist our volunteer instructors in the classroom. That list has dwindled down and we really need you to step forward and assist those in the class who need help.

Do you feel that you are not qualified? Well, if you have taken any of our classes or have some computer experience you certainly are at a point where you are capable of assisting. Give it a try. We are sure you will be pleasantly surprised!!

We are looking for people to serve as aides for the upcoming October Tech Thursday classes. Tech Thursdays are one session classes running from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. We would like your help. Contact the CFS office at the email address below.
